Robert H.N. Ho Family Foundation seeks a part-time facilitator to work in a flexible, consulting arrangement as part of a small team to facilitate a community of practice (CoP) made up of approximately 12 grantees and a growing number of organizations working in the field of social or environmental change. The facilitator will:
- Work with the director of programs and the consulting program officer (both based in North America) to facilitate the CoP under the Foundation’s Contemplation, Insight, and Impact (C2i) initiative — a grantmaking area that supports the development of inner skills and capacities (e.g. mindfulness, resilience, wellbeing) of leaders, teams, and individuals within these organizations to accelerate mission-related outcomes.
- Contribute actively as a member of a small team and collaborate with grantees globally.
The majority of C2i grantees are based in North America and Europe. While this position is geographically flexible, the candidate must be available and working during North American time zone hours.
Key responsibilities:
- Work with the program team to strategize around the CoP vision, structure, and needs with input from the CoP
- Build and maintain trusting relationships with CoP members (grantees and external organizations) and solicit feedback for continuous improvement
- Design and facilitate quarterly calls with the CoP focused on learning, sharing, and building community around topics of interest/need to the CoP
- May include “learning series” on topics of interest/need to the CoP (e.g. storytelling, learning and evaluation); coordination with guest speakers as needed
- Offer mindfulness/contemplative drop-in sessions 1x/month possibly increasing to 2x/month (facilitated personally, in collaboration with CoP members, and/or by guest teachers)
Requirements + experience:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience facilitating engaging and thought-provoking discussion among diverse audiences in the nonprofit social or environmental change sector, managing group dynamics, and using questioning techniques rather than taking a wholly directive approach
- Deep personal practice with mindfulness, meditation, or contemplative practices and their organic integration into facilitation
- Deep comprehension and application of organizational culture and development, leadership principles, and personal growth
- Ability to synthesize complex information and create clear and compelling learning experiences and materials
- Collaborative working style and ability to cultivate trusting and positive relationships
- Ability to connect with diverse groups of people and have a high degree of intercultural understanding/adeptness and flexibility
