The Donkey Sanctuary

Grant period

2020 - 2022

Location

Global

Millions of donkeys around the world are being cruelly and unsustainably sourced, traded, and slaughtered for their skins, which are in high demand in China. Collagen extracted from donkey skins is used in the production of ejiao, a traditional Chinese remedy. A grant to The Donkey Sanctuary assists its work to combat the global donkey skins trade and strengthen evidence links between the donkey skin trade and illegal international wildlife trade, including biosecurity risks.
