Laos
Beginning with an initial grant in 2020 and followed by renewal support in 2022, the Foundation provides support to Laos-based Free the Bears to ensure ongoing implementation of strategies to develop world-class sanctuaries to eliminate the illegal trade in sun and moon bears and their body parts. The COVID-19 pandemic upended the business model for Free the Bears sanctuaries, and Foundation funding has created stability and enabled continued bear care during this time.
