Grant period

2011

Location

The exhibition, supported by the Foundation, marked the 2,200-year-old Terracotta Army’s first visit to Canada, with the unprecedented cross-cultural exchange involving loans from 16 archaeological research institutions and museums in Mainland China. Presented at the Royal Ontario Museum and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, featured finds from recent excavations, as well as relics that had never before traveled outside Mainland China. Accompanied by themed events—including films, lectures, concerts and school tours, plus a colloquium on new perspectives on Qin archaeology—the exhibition aimed to deepen public understanding of classical Chinese civilization and culture.
