This multi-year project sought to preserve, document, and present the living Vajrayana Buddhist culture of Bhutan. The project provided conservation training for Bhutanese monks, created a video archive for the Cham ritual dance, and developed a database featuring Bhutanese arts in worldwide museum collections. The project matched the Foundation’s objective to inspire other endeavors preserving and revitalizing traditional arts and culture.

The Dragon’s Gift: The Sacred Arts of Bhutan exhibition opened at the Honolulu Academy of Arts, then travelled to The Rubin Museum in New York, Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, Musée Guimet in Paris, Museum of East Asian Art in Cologne, and Museum Rietberg in Zurich.
